Rather we move it for you?

One flat price. Your domain ends up in your name, at a company you control, with the website and email still working.

Doing it yourself

The safe order to move a domain

Most broken moves skip a step or do two in the wrong order. Follow these and the website and email never notice.

S/01

Copy every record

Write down or export every DNS record first: website, email and verification codes. The checker above grabs the common ones.

S/02

Turn off DNSSEC

If DNSSEC is on, switch it off at the registrar a day before you touch the nameservers.

S/03

Lift the lock, get the code

Turn off the transfer lock at the old registrar and ask for the transfer code.

S/04

Start the transfer

Enter the code at the new registrar and approve the confirmation email. The domain stays in your name.

S/05

Rebuild the records, then switch

Re-create every record at the new DNS host. Only then change the nameservers.

S/06

Wait a day, then cancel

Check the website, send yourself a test email, then cancel the old plan. Never cancel first.

Questions

Common questions

Straight answers about moving a domain.

Is this really free?

Yes. The checker is free and needs no sign up. It only reads public records, the same ones any registrar or DNS tool can see. You only pay if you want us to do the move.

Why doesn't it list every DNS record?

Public DNS only answers for the names you ask about, so nobody can pull a complete list from the outside. We check the names that matter most: the root of the domain, www, email (MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC) and autodiscover. Before a move, also export the full list from your current DNS host.

Will my email stop working when I move my domain?

Not if it's done in the right order. Email only breaks when the MX, SPF and DKIM records go missing at the new DNS host. Copy them over first, then switch the nameservers, and mail keeps arriving.

How long does a domain transfer take?

Most transfers finish within a week. Some finish the same day once the old registrar approves the move. Your website and email keep working the whole time if the records are copied first.

What is a transfer code?

It's a password for the domain itself, also called an EPP code or auth code. Your current registrar gives it to you once the transfer lock is off. The new registrar asks for it to start the move.

I'm locked out of the old account. Can you still help?

Usually, yes. That's what the emergency rescue is for. If the registrar needs the owner's ID, only you can send it, but we tell you exactly what to send, where to send it and what to say.

Do you need my passwords?

No. You keep every login. We send exact steps you follow, or, where the company allows it, you add us as a helper on the account and remove us after.

What does a move cost besides your fee?

The new registrar charges its own transfer fee, usually one year of renewal added to the domain. You pay that to them directly, and the domain stays in your name.
